Montgomery County Memorial Hospital offers Nutrition Coaching for Obesity to all eligible participants. Nutrition Coaching is a comprehensive, individualized service that can help you lose weight and improve your health.
Who provides Nutrition Coaching?Nutrition Couseling is provided by a Registered Dietitian (RD). All RDs have earned a minimum of a bachelor's degree in nutrition, completed a supervised practice program and passed a national registration examination.
RDs are also required to complete continuing education credits in order to maintain certification requirements and stay current with the latest nutrition research and findings. They have a strong clinical and counseling background.
What will the Nutrition Coaching sessions include?You will have complete and individualized nutrition counseling sessions in a confidential setting. An
individually tailored plan will be created using science-based nutrition guidelines.
You will continually be monitored by one of our dietitians throughout the program. You will attend a maximum of 22 sessions for obesity in a 12-month period.
These sessions are broken down as follows:
-One face-to-face visit every week for the first month
-One face-to-face visit every other week for months 2-6
-One face-to-face visit every month for months 7-12
Who qualifies for Nutrition Coaching?Patients must have a body mass index greater than 30kg/m2. Medicare covers Nutrition Coaching (IBT) for all Part B beneficiaries. Many private insurance companies cover Nutrition Coaching (IBT) services for obesity; co-pay may be required depending on your insurance coverage.
How do I see the dietitian for Nutrition Coaching?Talk to your doctor! After our Registered Dietitians receive a referral from your doctor, they will contact you to set up your initial visit.
