Montgomery County Memorial Hospital + Clinics announces the acquisitions of Red Oak Pharmacy & Medicap Pharmacy and the creation of the new “MCMH Pharmacy.”

September 01, 2023

Montgomery County Memorial Hospital + Clinics (MCMH) is pleased to announce the acquisition of Red Oak Pharmacy & Medicap Pharmacy, signifying an exciting milestone in the organization’s ongoing efforts to enrich patient care and foster innovation within their healthcare system. MCMH will operate the pharmacies under the name, MCMH Pharmacy with the tag line of “Improving Community Health, Every Prescription, Every Time.”

The new MCMH Pharmacy will be located at 600 Senate Ave, Red Oak, IA, which is the current Medicap Pharmacy location. “Our long term plan is to bring the pharmacy back up to the main campus location. For the time being, we will be using the Medicap location for the primary retail pharmacy, and what is currently the Red Oak Pharmacy will be used for expanded pharmacy services” explains Director of Pharmacy, Sherstin Willyerd. MCMH Pharmacy has plans for regular courier services for both the benefit of patients and employees.

The acquisitions are backed by strong support from Dave Post, pharmacist and owner of Red Oak Pharmacy, and Masoode (Mo) Nikseresht, pharmacist and owner of Medicap Pharmacy.

Pharmacist Dave Post expressed, “With my upcoming retirement, I am happy that my pharmacy will become a part of the MCMH organization and continue normal business. I am confident that MCMH will provide my patients with the care and support they expect.”

The dual retirement of both pharmacists presented a unique opportunity for MCMH. Both owners displayed a keen interest in retirement, while maintaining the small town feel of a community/independent pharmacy to serve their patients. They identified MCMH as the ideal organization to collaborate with in order to achieve this goal. MCMH CEO Ron Kloewer expressed his gratitude towards both organizations; “As we embrace the opportunity for growth and benefit to our patients, we hold in high regard the esteemed legacy of Dave Post, Mo Nikseresht, and both pharmacy teams.  We are committed to carrying forward their expertise, customer service and dedication to our patients”.

Through these acquisitions, patients can expect the same great care they are accustomed to receiving, coupled with the assurance of encountering familiar faces of current staff from both pharmacies.

Pharmacist, Mo Nikseresht, added; "I was waiting for the best opportunity for my patients, my family, and myself and the opportunity with the hospital came along. It was an amazing opportunity I did not want to miss. I am very happy to have the support of MCMH. I promise my patients that MCMH will deliver the same service I have provided the Red Oak community for 35 years. I am thankful for my daughter, Monica, my son-in-law, Matt, and my late wife, Martha, for supporting our vision and pharmacy for 23 years. We feel MCMH will sustain the legacy we started. I will still be around and love all my patients dearly. Thank you for your supporting me all this time. I wish I would never get old and stay young to have the energy to keep going."

The addition of a retail pharmacy operation provides added financial stability for MCMH, CEO Ron Kloewer explains; “The financial opportunities are an important piece when looking at the long term sustainability for our community hospital, clinics, and pharmacy. This is an investment in Montgomery County and it preserves jobs for the people who have dedicated many years of pharmacy service to their patients. We are ensuring that we will continue to deliver exceptional care to our patients, right here at home.”

Although the quality of care, dedication and staff will remain, patients will have some things to look forward to with this new transition. Willyerd explains; “The seamless workflow between MCMH + Clinic’s providers and pharmacists will significantly benefit our patients. MCMH Pharmacy also hopes to introduce convenient point-of-care prescription filling, financial assistance programs, mobile apps, and various other initiatives that further elevate patient well-being.”

The acquisitions of Red Oak Pharmacy and Medicap underscores MCMH’s dedication to exceptional healthcare services, building upon the legacy of service provided by Dave Post and Mo Nikseresht. Kloewer emphasizes; “We are honored to be given the opportunity to continue to serve the patients of both of these tremendous pharmacies, and we look forward to the added benefits patients can expect from an integrated retail pharmacy program.”

The transition of both pharmacies to MCMH will take place winter of 2023; patients should expect additional communication from all three organizations.
