Biography

David Owen, a southwest Iowa native, joins the MCMH family from Tabor, Iowa. Born and raised in Hamburg, David has been practicing in the field of nursing for over 28 years. After following his uncle's footsteps in Emergency Medical Services in 1992, David began his nursing career by obtaining his diploma in nursing from Jennie Edmundson Hospital College of Nursing in Council Bluffs, IA in 1996. Immediately following graduation, he completed his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Nebraska Methodist College of Nursing and Allied Health in Omaha, NE in 1997. Over the next 7 years, David obtained extensive experience as an ICU and ER nurse, caring for critically ill and injured patients of all ages, eventually becoming a flight nurse with LifeNet Air Medical Transport in Omaha, NE in 1999. There he would transport patients all over the country via airplane, helicopter, and ambulance. In 2003, David returned to graduate school completing his Master of Science degree, with emphasis in Nursing, at Creighton University in Omaha, NE. He has been practicing as a family nurse practitioner since 2005 and has gained significant experience and knowledge in family practice, hospital, and emergency medicine. David continues to reside in Tabor, Iowa with his wife and children. He is anxious to continue his career at MCMH and looks forward to making a positive impact on Red Oak and surrounding communities.
