When it comes to women’s health, having the right care provider is crucial for maintaining wellness throughout the various stages of life. At MCMH + Clinics, we understand the importance of personalized care and offer comprehensive services to meet all your health needs. Here’s how to choose the best provider for you and understand the differences between the specialties we offer.
Understanding the Specialties
OB/GYN: An OB/GYN is a physician who specializes in both obstetrics and gynecology. Obstetrics focuses on pregnancy and childbirth, while gynecology deals with the health of the female reproductive system. At MCMH + Clinics, our OB/GYNs are experts in reproductive health, breast health, and preventive care for women. MCMH + Clinics collaborates with @Cass Health in Atlantic for obstetrics with Dr. Pineda providing all prenatal and postnatal care in Red Oak, and the delivery of your baby occurring at Cass Health. We also partner with Methodist Health System for Dr. Perry and Dr. Ferrar for OB/GYN services.
Gynecology: This specialty is solely focused on the non-pregnancy aspects of women’s reproductive health. Our gynecologists are equipped to handle a wide range of concerns from routine screenings to managing complex reproductive health issues.
Women’s Primary Care: These providers offer a broader scope of services and are akin to a home base for your overall health. They manage general wellness, chronic conditions, and can refer you to specialists when needed. They’re your go-to for non-reproductive health concerns but are well-versed in women’s health as well.
Choosing the Right Provider at MCMH + Clinics
Identify Your Needs: Consider what aspects of your health you want to focus on. Whether it’s routine check-ups, managing a specific health condition, or seeking reproductive health support, MCMH + Clinics has a provider for you.
Consider the Expertise: Each specialty brings a unique set of skills. If your focus is on reproductive health, a gynecologist or OB/GYN might be the best fit. For broader health concerns, a women’s primary care provider will be your ally.
Personal Comfort: Choose a provider you feel comfortable with. At MCMH + Clinics, we prioritize patient-provider relationships and ensure a comfortable, respectful, and confidential environment.
By understanding the different roles of OB/GYNs, gynecologists, and women’s primary care providers, you can make an informed decision about your health care. At MCMH + Clinics, we’re proud to offer all these services under one roof, providing a seamless and integrated health care experience for all women.
